Private University Employees Become Guest Lecturers at Cenderawasih University, Jayapura

Jayapura, Papua | September 14, 2023 Thursday, September 14, 2023 - PT Palapa Timur Telematika was honored to be specially invited by the Faculty of Engineering, Cenderawasih University in Jayapura to deliver a public lecture on East Palapa Ring fiber optic technology for new students of the Faculty of Engineering, UNCEN. The public lecture was opened by remarks from the Dean, Dr. Ir. Johni Jonatan Numberi, M.Eng., IPM, and was attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering, UNCEN. The lecture was delivered by Parlin Marbun, Sorong Area Manager, on inland fiber optics. Rolando, FOP Timika and UNCEN alumnus, presented submarine fiber optics. Finally, Ali Rahman, Timika Area Manager, presented microwave radio.

The more than 150 offline participants and 60 online participants connected via Zoom were very enthusiastic, as evidenced by the feedback provided by the students, who asked questions about land and sea fiber optic technology, microwave radio networks, network issues they experienced in Jayapura, and the challenges of operating the East Palapa Ring. This guest lecture, or public lecture, is expected to provide students with opportunities to learn more about the world of telecommunications, particularly fiber optics, and to foster positive relationships between companies and the educational sector.
